Choose from among the following natural wood and synthetic options for your Quadripod perch. 

All natural wood selections below are harvested in the United States by trusted vendors and are untreated—so you can be sure they are 100% bird-safe.  If you have a favorite type of wood that is not on this list, let us know.  We will do our best to find it, and—as long as we know it is safe for birds—we will be happy to make a custom perch for your Quadripod stand.

Dragonwood is a hardwood that grows in the American Southeast (mostly Florida)—and our personal favorite natural wood perch for all of our products.  We like it because it’s indestructible like Manzanita—yet has a thin, textured outer bark that is less slippery and easier for birds to grip than Manzanita.  A lot of our customers seem to prefer it over Manzanita as well.  Dragonwood is also lighter in color than Manzanita, which a lot of customers also prefer.

Manzanita is a small evergreen tree native to the American West, Mexico, and Western Canada.  Its dense, indestructible hardwood core and attractive reddish-purple outer skin have made it a longtime favorite wood for bird perches and gyms.  In addition to its durability, Manzanita is impermeable--which makes it easy to clean--and a good choice for your Quadripod perch if you plan to use Quadripod outdoors.  On the downside, its smooth surface makes it slippery and harder for your bird to grip than other wood choices.

Light-colored Maple is not only a beautiful wood, it is the strongest of all hardwoods—and thus stands up well to strong beaks.  Our maple dowel perches are for customers who prefer a smooth perching surface for their bird to the uneven texture of Dragonwood and Manzanita.

Textured PVC.  We use tough, construction-grade, American-made PVC tubing and rough up the surface to give it texture/make it easier to grip.  Very easy to clean and dishwasher-safe.  A good choice if you plan to use your Quadripod outdoors.

Your Quadripod stand can be ordered with a medium, large, or extra large perch diameter, depending on the size of the bird that will be using it. We recommend the medium diameter perch if a Grey, Amazon, small Cockatoo, or smaller size bird will be using the stand. However, if you intend to use this Medium C Stand for a larger bird--such as a Macaw or large Cockatoo--make sure to select the large diameter.

Standard perch length is 14 inches, but we can make your perch longer (or shorter) as needed.

We make our playstand trays out of Kydex thermoplastic, an American-made product that--in our opinion and in the opinion of many plastics experts--is the best plastic out there.  Unlike other plastics, Kydex will not crack, break, chip, flake, or otherwise deteriorate over time.  It is also an extremely tough plastic that is built to withstand impact, gouging, and general abuse--and is resistant to stains, fading, and bacterial growth.  We like it because it is extremely easy-to-clean and able to stand up to those tough beaks.

The Medium Quadripod comes standard with two heavy duty, clear acrylic food/water cups.  The cups are made in the USA of non-toxic plastic and are heavyweight enough to stand up even under the toughest beaks.  They are dishwasher-safe and can be used in your bird's cage, as well as on the Quadripod stand.

The cups attach to a stainless steel bracket that fits up under the perch.  The bracket is designed so that the cup handles fit under the bracket/perch, where they cannot be unscrewed by eager beaks.

Medium Quadripod cups come in three types/sizes:

The half-round cups slide off the bracket for easy cleaning, while the round cups must be unscrewed from the bracket.  Although the half-round cups are convenient, we recommend the round (stationary) cups if your bird likes to "play" with his/her food, since he/she might find enjoyment in sliding the half-round cups off the bracket and dumping the contents. 

Choose the 5 ounce size cups for small to medium size birds using the Quadripod and the 15 ounce cups for larger Cockatoos and Macaws.
